Job Overview

Design at Bailjini is not about aesthetics — it is about clarity under pressure. Our users are often in the most stressful moments of their lives: their family member has been arrested, they have received a police notice, they are trying to understand their rights at midnight. Everything we design must help them understand, act, and feel supported. If you approach design with empathy first and visual flair second, this is your role.

Key Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end design process for Bailjini's client portal, advocate dashboard, and public website
Conduct user research with clients, families, and advocates to understand real-world needs and pain points
Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma
Design the Bailjini website's service pages, careers pages, blog, and landing pages to maximise conversion and trust
Build and maintain Bailjini's design system — components, typography, colours, and interaction patterns
Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure pixel-accurate implementation
Design for accessibility: our users include elderly family members, people in distress, and non-native English speakers
Use data and feedback to continuously improve designs after launch

What We Are Looking For

2–4 years of UI/UX design experience with a portfolio of shipped product work
Proficiency in Figma (or equivalent) for wireframing and high-fidelity design
Strong understanding of mobile-first design — most of our users come on mobile
Empathy-first design thinking: ability to design for high-stress, low-tech-literacy users
Clear communication of design decisions to engineering and leadership
Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1)
Comfortable working remotely with an async communication style

Nice to Have

Experience designing for legal, healthcare, or other sensitive-domain applications
Understanding of SEO-friendly design practices and Core Web Vitals
Hindi or regional language fluency for conducting user research with non-English speakers
Motion design or micro-interaction experience
