Head of Legal Operations

Job Overview

The Head of Legal Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for the end-to-end operational excellence of Bailjini's legal service delivery. You will lead the legal operations team, manage advocate panel performance, design and improve the systems and processes that power our service, and act as the bridge between the legal panel and the technology and client teams. This is the right role for someone who combines legal domain knowledge with operational rigour and genuinely thrives on building systems that work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and continuously improve Bailjini's end-to-end legal service delivery process: from client intake to case closure
• Manage the day-to-day performance of the legal operations team including client relations executives, paralegals, and legal research associates
• Oversee advocate panel management: empanelment, performance tracking, quality assurance, and panel development
• Establish and enforce SLAs for response times, advocate dispatch, bail filing timelines, and client communication
• Develop training programmes to onboard new team members and upskill existing staff on BNSS, BNS, and BSA
• Work closely with the tech team to define operational requirements for the case management platform, client portal, and reporting dashboards
• Produce weekly operational reports for leadership on case volumes, response times, client satisfaction, and service quality
• Identify process inefficiencies and lead root-cause analysis and remediation
• Build relationships with court registries, police station stakeholders, and legal aid bodies

What We Are Looking For

• LLB or LLM with 5–8 years of experience in legal operations, law firm management, or legal services delivery
• Track record of managing teams in a fast-paced legal or professional services environment
• Deep understanding of criminal law procedure under BNSS — or willingness to develop this rapidly
• Strong systems thinking: ability to design workflows, identify bottlenecks, and build scalable processes
• Excellent people management and communication skills in English, Hindi, and Marathi
• Proficiency with data and reporting — you use numbers to understand what is working and what is not
• Uncompromising on client confidentiality and professional ethics

Nice to Have

• Experience in a legal tech startup or digital legal services company
• Familiarity with CRM, case management software, or process automation tools
• Understanding of BNSS, BNS, BSA from a procedural standpoint
